Join us for a fun outdoor fitness class with Cody. In this one-hour class, Cody will take you through a warm up, a run up the butte, a circuit training at the summit, followed by down hill strength training and stretching. Enjoy beautiful views while developing fitness and building strength in community. Get cut with Cutz!

The event is free but reservation is required ⚠️  Please register each person in your group separately. Registration is separate for each class, valid for the date indicated on the event page. Important event information will be sent in a confirmation email prior to the class.

  • Who can attend? Is it suitable for all skill levels?
    Our one-hour class will be a gentle, all-levels flow. All are welcome, whether you're new to the practice or an advanced practitioner.
  • Do I need to register in advance or can I just show up on the day?
    Reservation is required, as spots are limited to 10 participants.
  • What if I sign up but need to cancel?
    If you reserve a spot but need to cancel for any reason please reach out and let us know as soon as possible to allow others the opportunity to participate. Please review our Cancellation, Refund and No-Show Policy before booking.
  • Who will be leading the yoga class?
    Khyra Wilhelm, yoga teacher and co-founder of Wildland Guiding Company. Khyra holds certifications in vinyasa, restorative and trauma-informed yoga. Her goal as a yoga instructor is to assist students in establishing their own practice based in mindful listening and self-compassion. She finds purpose in fostering connection to the outdoors through movement and mindfulness practices. Born and raised in beautiful Bend, Oregon, she spends her time hiking, backpacking, biking, paddle boarding, rock climbing and skiing.
  • Are there any facilities available at the location (restrooms, parking)?
    If needed, public restrooms are about five minutes from class by foot. Parking is available along the rimrock overlooking the canyon as you drive in. There are several overflow parking areas if needed. An Oregon State Park parking pass is needed, as class will take place in a state park. If you don't already have a pass, feel free to reach out.
  • What should I bring to class?
    Bring comfortable clothes, layers of clothes, water, snacks, sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat. We provide you with an outdoor yoga mat, yoga props and one craft beer in this unique outdoor yoga experience. You are welcome to bring your own mat to place on top of the mat provided for personal preference and/or comfort.
  • What happens if the weather is bad on the day of the event?
    If the weather is too cold or if there is rain on the day of the event we will notify you by email that class is canceled.
  • Can I bring my kids to class?
    Participants must be 14 years or older. All minors under 18 years old must have a parent or legal guardian sign a waiver prior to practicing; all minors under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Where is the workshop located?
    Our workshop takes place at Tumalo State Park, located conveniently just outside of Bend, Oregon. The park is a short 10-15 minute drive from town. The workshop is held along the beautiful Deschutes River. If you would like to hike after the workshop, there is a gentle three-mile hike that leaves from the park. Bring your hiking clothes and gear!
  • Can I participate if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?
    We try our best to accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies by providing alternate ingredients and additional, personalized suggestions for our recipes. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions and allergies you may have when you sign up!
  • What are the prerequisites for attending this workshop?
    Our workshop is intended for all. Familiarity with backpacking or camping is helpful as it provides context for the content. Whatever your experience, bring your interest in outdoor activities and enthusiasm for learning!
  • What will I learn in the backpacking food workshop?
    We will cover a wide range of topics having to do with the foundations of making your own backpacking meals, from nutrition, organization of food, storage of food, ingredients, methods, equipment to leave no trace. You will learn the foundations of creating your own backpacking meals but also make three meals during the workshop to take home, ready for your next adventure!
  • Do the recipes require buying special equipment to make meals at home?
    No, our recipes do not require special equipment to make at home. All of the ingredients can be found in-store or online. We teach you how to make backpacking meals that are accessible, easy-to-prep and inexpensive.
  • Are there any recipes included in the workshop?
    You will receive a printed hand-out with ingredient lists, cooking instructions and links to our favorite products. You’ll have recipes for the three meals we make together during the workshop, as well as a bonus dessert recipe to make at home. One of our favorites!
  • Will equipment be provided, or should I bring my own?
    We provide all of the equipment needed, including ingredients, recipes, storage, cookware and utensils for making the meals. We will also bring a mock stove system setup for the backcountry.
  • Will there be any take-home materials provided from the workshop?
    You will walk away with three backpacking meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) that you will make during the workshop. You will also take home a printed hand-out with ingredient lists, cooking instructions and links to our favorite products.
  • Who will be instructing the workshop?
    Cody Cutz and Khyra Wilhelm of Wildland Guiding Company. Cody is a professional hiking guide, fitness coach, brewery maintenance technician and co-founder of Wildland Guiding Company. He moved to Bend several years ago to follow his passion of participating in all of the outdoor activities that Central Oregon has to offer. Khyra is a professional hiking guide, yoga teacher, outdoor outfitter and co-founder of Wildland Guiding Company. Khyra enjoys hiking, backpacking, biking, paddle boarding, rock climbing, snowshoeing and skiing. She teaches from a lifetime of experience, having grown up in the active outdoor culture of Bend. Cody and Khyra are registered Oregon Outfitter Guides, certified in CPR/AED/First Aid through the American Red Cross and as Wilderness First Responders through the National Outdoor Leadership School.
  • How long is the workshop and what does the schedule look like?
    The workshop lasts an hour and a half. We will facilitate check-in and introductions, then lead an interactive presentation on the foundations of making your own backpacking meals, during which we will make three meals together. We will then discuss next steps for those interested in diving deeper into homemade backpacking meals and leave space for questions.
  • What is the cancellation and refund policy?
    Unfortunately we cannot provide a refund in the case of a cancellation, as we will be providing all ingredients and materials based on the number of reservations. Before booking, please review our full Cancellation, Refund and No-Show Policy.
